Our Exam Results

2023 Examination Performance

After three years of examination uncertainty and adaptations to content being tests, the summer examinations of 2023 was mostly back to the normality of pre-covid. Following three years of these disruptions and the continued impact of lockdowns and covid absence no-one could know how successful students would be in their exams, particularly given the extended lockdown Leicester families suffered, compared to the rest of the country.

We were delighted with the results our students achieved.  Schools were told that results would be aligned to 2019 outcome and therefore lower than in 2022 and the Teacher Assessed Grades of 2021 and 2020. However, at Beaumont Leys most of our results were in line with 2019 thanks to the hard work and determination of our staff and students.

Once again, our belief in the statement that ‘Together we achieve success” proved true!

Attainment 8

Attainment 8 is a measure of how students did across 8 key subjects.

This year our Attainment 8 is not be considered absolutely comparable with other years, since success in this measure is dependent on the average ability of the cohort which can change year upon year. Whilst there looks to be a lower attainment looking just at these numbers, the fact that we were able to secure a positive Progress 8 score demonstrates that attainment outcomes were the result of a slightly lower ability cohort in 2023.

Progress 8

Progress 8 is a measure of how students compare, across 8 key subjects, with national trends of progress.

This year our Progress 8 back to pre-covid standard, as was expected nationally. The fact that we secured a positive Progress 8 is a real achievement and reflects the hard work of both our students and our staff.

Schools have to talk about their results as a whole as that is how we are judged but the beautiful thing about results is that they are about our students.

We are always most proud of the students who have worked hard to make the most progress during their time with us.  These students made the most progress out of their whole year group:
