50 Year 9 Students visit Nylacast for an apprenticeship experience day.

50 Year 9 students from BLS were invited to spend the morning at Nylacast. Students toured the engineering factory floor and then took part in a team building engineering activity. On the tour, students had the opportunity to test the elasticity of the plastic produced at Nylacast, speak to staff and see the machinery in action. Students were split into groups and each group had to design a boat made of straws, masking tape and paper. The boats were in competition to see which one could hold the most weight when placed in water. Staff at Nylacast said that our boats were some of the most creative and impressive designs they had ever seen!

“It was a fantastic experience for our Year 9's to be in a real working environment. I loved seeing them outside of their comfort zone and hopefully they’ve come away feeling inspired.”- Miss Roberts, Year 9 Team Leader.
