Supporting Progression

‘Supporting Progression’ is unique to Beaumont Leys School. It aims to help students focus on their progress and consider what they can do to improve and reach their full potential.

The key aim of ‘Supporting Progression’ is for students to have an opportunity to work outside of their comfort zones. Students in Years 7 and 8 will be coached by students in Years 9 and 10.

Discussions will be focussed on specific achievements and progress in different subjects. This is an opportunity not just for older students to guide and lead younger students through data given by their subject teachers, but also to share their data with the younger students as an example to them.

Conversations between students in ‘Supporting Progression’ cover a range of topics to develop a meaningful relationship outside of the classroom, and inspire each other through peer interaction.

Year 11 students will be coached by staff to ensure they are on track to achieve their GCSE target grades, and know what they want to do once they leave Beaumont Leys School.  This method of coaching is a crucial tool for our students. It allows staff to:

  • Identify underperformance and make students aware of the reality of their progress
  • Praise students who are always on track, doing the right thing, at the right time, in the right place
  • Establish and maintain a positive dialogue with students
  • Promote the Beaumont Leys Values and cascade key messages in a student friendly manner
  • Motivate and enthuse students to achieve their full potential
  • Troubleshoot any problems students may face where necessary
  • Make students feel valued
  • Encourage students to branch out of their comfort zones and be open to appropriate risk taking
  • Instil high aspirations beyond their life at Beaumont Leys School
  • Support students with any apprehensions about their future after their GCSEs

…and so much more.
