Our 2024-2025 cohort of students performed strongly in their GCSEs. The PP gap to the cohort total scores has closed year on year with the current year’s gap being the smallest since before the pandemic. We have made strides in our impact with PP students this year, although this is not always obvious on paper when looking at PP gaps. It is clear that PP gaps still remain and so we are continuing to focus on this. The real success story is that our PP students that regularly attended school performed extremely well.
We are pleased that as our whole school Attainment 8 improved, PP Attainment 8 improved slightly more, leading to a small closing of the gap. The total improvement for all students was 0.53 (45.13 in 2025 from 44.61 in 2024), and the total improvement for PP students was 1.15 (34.4 in 2025 from 33.25 in 2024). The biggest challenge in closing these gaps is student attendance, for which, PP students have lower attendance than non-PP, as is also the picture nationally. Our focus on attendance has resulted in our PP students having 1% above the national average by the end of the 2024/2025 academic year.
