Employer Q&A with presenter, Peter Homa - Careers in the National Health Service

63 BTEC Health & Social Care students: Year 10 (48) Year 9 (8) Year 8 (7)

Peter’s inspirational talk centred on the NHS: past, present and future (NHS70) https://www.england.nhs.uk/nhs70/. He also shared information about potential careers within the NHS. There was plenty of time for students to ask a range of questions about specific job areas of interest. Peter stayed at the end to answer further questions more informally. We feel very lucky to have had such an interesting and passionate speaker who today inspired the next generation of National Health Service workers from the local community.

Feedback from Peter:

Thank you very much for such a warm welcome to your vibrant students and school.  It was truly a pleasure to join you, fellow teachers and so many students today.  I am so impressed with the students’ interest and questions.

I met with teachers and students at the school today.  They are inspiring.  The students had thoughtful questions and many are interested in exploring NHS careers.

Our students were extremely positive about the event and the information and advice that Peter gave to them.

Quotes from students:

‘It has inspired me to look at a career in the NHS.’

‘Peter gave us first hand experiences about his time in the NHS and this has made me want to work in this area’

‘Peter shared lots of useful and interesting information particularly about how we get can get experience in the NHS’
