Beaumont Leys

Our Curriculum

Beaumont Leys School has an excellent reputation for its innovative, high-quality, and aspirational curriculum. It equips students with the knowledge and skills to succeed and thrive in a diverse and ever-changing world, igniting a lifelong love of learning. Our commitment to inclusivity ensures all students can access enriching experiences. Ofsted has commented on our broad, detailed, and demanding curriculum.

We meticulously organise and sequence our curriculum to ensure clear learning progression for all students. We are extremely proud that our curriculum is engaging and delivers skills for life and work through a range of subject specialism’s and cross-curricular activities. This empowers teachers to tailor lessons that meet the needs of every student, fostering a truly inclusive learning environment. The curriculum is adapted as necessary to be accessible to all our students (e.g., through accessible resources, adaptive teaching, and reasonable adjustments). For more information, see our SEND Policy and SEND Information Report.

Every student has access to a broad and balanced curriculum that is flexible enough to meet the needs of the individual. For some students there is a focus on the English Baccalaureate qualifications (Maths, English, two Sciences, a Modern Foreign Language and either Geography or History). For others a more vocational programme of study may best support achievement and progression to further education.

The curriculum at Key Stage 4 consists of the core curriculum which is studied by all students and additional options chosen by students in consultation with parents and teachers. In most cases students choose 3 options although some may be selected for the Future Pathways/Enhanced Pathways programme as an alternative.
