Extra Curricular Opportunities

Students from Key Stage 4 can take part in the Health and Nutrition Ambassadors programme, which involves planning, preparing, and delivering lessons to Year 7 students about choosing healthy lifestyles and diets.

Productions and presentations by outside agencies are often performed. Last year we had performances about careers and drugs linked with up and coming music artists. We also had outside organisations teach our students about the realities of being a young parent, practical sexual health advice and choices to help have healthy relationships. The most recent production at Beaumont Leys School was Chelsea’s Choice that was highly effective in:

  • Raising awareness of healthy relationships
  • Promoting safe internet use
  • Identifying risky situations
  • Raising awareness of the grooming process and the differing forms that it can take
  • Raising awareness of child sexual exploitation and the differing forms that it can take
  • Sign-posting relevant services.

Key Stage 4 students are also taken to the annual Skills Show Event in the NEC in Birmingham to encourage them to think about their job prospects and future choices beyond Beaumont Leys School. Weekly assemblies are used a tool to promote good citizenship and cascade key messages.

A careers event called the ‘Futures Convention’ is facilitated at Beaumont Leys School to help Year 11 students’ research and find out about Post 16 options ahead of their UCAS Progress applications. We further invite colleges to conduct briefing assemblies to our Year 11 students so that they are absolutely clear on what they want to do after their GCSEs.
