Uniform Guidance for Students and Parents

We want to make sure both students and parents are completely clear about what is, and is not, allowed within our uniform.

We expect all students to arrive to school in full uniform.

Our School Uniform:

Boys’ School Uniform

  • Black Beaumont Leys School branded blazer
  • BLS branded tie (Year Group Colour)
  • Black BLS branded jumper (optional)
  • Black formal school trousers
  • White formal school shirt with collar and short/long sleeves
  • Black formal school shoes that can be polished

Girls’ School Uniform

  • Black Beaumont Leys School branded blazer
  • BLS branded tie (Year Group Colour)
  • Black BLS branded cardigan/jumper (optional)
  • Black formal knee length skirt or black formal school trousers
  • White formal school shirt with collar and short/long sleeves
  • Black formal school shoes that can be polished
  • Plain black headscarves if worn for religious reasons

Guidance for both boys’ and girls’ school uniform

A BLS branded tie

(Each year group has a different colour tie)

Available to purchase from school. Please order at Visitors Reception.

Price: £5.99.

Black formal knee length

This DOES NOT include any of the following:

·         Skirts above knee length

·         Lycra skirts

·         Netted skirts

·         Denim skirts

·         Skirts made of any fabric other than                        Standard school skirt fabric

·         Tight skirts

·         Skirts with any patterns

·         Very long skirts

·         Skirts with rivets

·         Any skirts that follow a current trend.

Boys’ and Girls’ black formal school trousers This DOES NOT include any of the following:

·         Denim trousers e.g. black  jeans

·         Trousers with rivets

·         Trousers with a low waist or worn low

·         Trousers made of any stretchy material

·         Trousers that are tight on the legs e.g.                   Skinny fit

·         Trousers made of any fabric other than                  standard school trouser fabric

·         Trousers that are not full length

·         Any trousers that follow a current trend

In addition:

·         Leggings

·         Thick tights/Patterned tights

White formal school shirt with collar, top button at neck and short/long sleeves This DOES NOT include any of the following:

·         White polo t-shirt

·         White sleeveless shirts

Black formal school shoes that can be polished This  DOES NOT include any of the following:

·         Shoes that you cannot polish

·         Shoes with any marking or logo that is not             black

·         Fabric shoes

·         Trainers

·         Pumps

·         Plimsolls

·         Shoes with heels

·         Any boots other than smart boots which               can be polished. (Boots may only be                   worn under trousers).

Headscarves Headscarves worn for religious reasons should be black.
A proper outdoor coat This  DOES NOT include hoodies, cardigans, fleeces, sweatshirts, wearing additional jumpers to travel to school in, any top that is not included in our uniform, any coat with a face mask as part of the hood.
Jewellery Students are ONLY allowed to wear:

•           One pair of ear studs only

•           A wrist watch

Please note NO other items of jewellery are allowed.

Purchasing New School Uniform

Uniform can be purchased in the following ways:

1. Online from John Cheatle (Schoolwear Solutions) and delivered to your home. The username and password below will allow you to login and order your child’s uniform:

2. Online from John Cheatle and delivered to the school for you to collect.

3. John Cheatle will also be available in August at Beaumont Leys School on the following three dates:

  • Monday 5th August 10am to 4pm
  • Tuesday 6th August 10am to 4pm
  • Wednesday 7th August 10am to 4pm
  • Thursday 8th August 10am to 4pm

Free School Meal Allowance

If you are eligible for, and claim, Free School Meals, or you are on any other benefits, you may be entitled to financial assistance with your child’s school uniform. However, you will need to provide evidence to show that you are claiming one or more of the following:

Income-Related Employment and Support Allowance
Income-Based Job Seekers Allowance
Child Tax Credit (but no Working Tax Credit is being received by the claimant or his/her partner and the combined annual income as assessed by HMIR on a TC602 form is not above £16,190)

Asylum Seeker under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
