Cofresh - Working with a local business – February 2020 Update

Our Year 10 GCSE Food and Nutrition students were challenged back in October 2019 to come up with a series of new flavours and pack designs based on the company’s ‘Eat Real’ healthier snacking brand of Lentil, Hummus and Quinoa Chips based on the below brief.

Students got stuck into conducting research for the development of the snack flavour and pack design. We invited Cofresh back to our school on 12th December to present all our student ideas.

Our student’s ideas were so strong that Cofresh decided to develop all our suggested snack Flavour. We had an array of ideas from: Spiced Cauliflower flavour puffs, Quinoa Roulette chips (Lemon and Herb, Mucho Mas & Flaming Hot), Assorted Tortilla chips (green spinach, Orange Carrot and Red Peri Peri) Sour Cream and Chive Christmas tree shaped celebration chips and Smokey BBQ & Hot Chilli Flavour Lentil Chips.

All the packaging for the new snack ideas were developed. Below shows a collage of the developed packaging ideas.

Priyesh Patel, Managing Director at Cofresh, also commented: “It was an absolute pleasure to welcome these pupils into our business and hope that their time working alongside us has helped them gain useful insight into the workings of a food manufacture.

“Their flavour ideas and pack designs were really creative and right on track with current snacking trends - we were all very impressed with their understanding of the sector, their enthusiasm for the project and the delicious flavours they came up with!  We wish them all every success with the rest of their GCSEs and who knows, we may have just inspired a future snacks supremo or two!”

As their teacher, I am super proud of our students, their hard work has definitely paid off. Well done! Cofresh are currently writing a PR statement in the local newspaper. We look forward to reading this.
