Beaumont Leys students performed really well in a Leicestershire Cares marketing competition

As part of home schooling in the Summer Term, a number of students from Beaumont Leys School took part in a careers research and marketing competition launched by Leicestershire Cares. The competition required students to research a career, which they may not have been familiar with and produce creative promotional materials. They were able to choose from the following careers:

  • Communications and Engagement Partner
  • Bakery production shift manager
  • New product development officer
  • People Advisor /Personnel officer

The competition was set as homework to our students by Design and Technology staff as they have good industrial links. Careers Education and Guidance is at the heart of what they teach and it is well embedded within the curriculum.

Despite the judging criteria being quite challenging, our students did themselves and our school proud. Students produced a variety of creative ideas that were fun, lively, and engaging. They demonstrated a deep understanding about their chosen career, presenting a clear and a concise description of what the role involved. Through this, students were able to learn about what qualifications and skills were required, and what routes to take in the future.

Three students received Highly Commended certificates from Leicestershire Cares for their entries making it to the top twenty. This is a great achievement for all three students and our school. Well done to Mariam, Harshiv, Vinita, and all the participants for their effort.
